Library and Information Week is underway and our library users have the chance to win a family pack of cinema passes.

Whilst you’re in one of our Sunshine Coast Libraries, discover the many services and resources on offer.

The theme for 2018 is Find Yourself in a Library.

Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said our libraries play an important role within the community.

“Each of our libraries are vibrant community hubs where people from all walks of life can connect and interact with other people or with the multitude of free programs and services available,” Cr McKay said.

“Library and Information Week gives our libraries an opportunity to showcase their value to the community in a fun way.

“There are a range of exciting events planned to celebrate the week and there will literally be something to suit all ages and tastes.”

Council also invites keen readers to enjoy an evening with acclaimed Australian author Peter Watt at the Beerwah Community Hall from 6pm on Thursday, May 24. This special literary event is part of a series of Sunshine Coast Libraries author events hosted at various locations across the region. Bookings are essential via the library website.

Children will have a special place in the Library and Information Week program. They can join thousands across Australia in the National Simultaneous Storytime fun, which will take place at exactly 11am on Wednesday, May 23 at various locations. This year the book is Hickory Dickory Dash by Tony Wilson and Laura Wood. This event is free and no registrations are required.
